The authors study the bifurcation problem for the semilinear operator equation \(Lx+\lambda(h(x)+k(x))=O(1)\) in \(\Omega\times [0,+\infty)\), where \(\Omega\) is an open subset of a Banach space \(E, L:\to F\) is a linear Fredholm operator of zero index and the maps \(h:\Omega \to F\) and \(K:\Omega\to F\) are \(C^1\)-continuous and also for any nonnegative real \(\lambda\) the map \(x\mapsto Lx+\lambda h(x)\) is a nonlinear Fredholm of zero index map. At the usage of degree theory for a special class of noncompact perturbations of Fredholm maps of index zero (\(\alpha\)-Fredholm maps theory developed by the authors and M. Furi) the existence of an unbounded connected set of nontrivial solutions, the closure of which contains a trivial solution \((\overline{x},0)\), is proved.
