For computing a locally unique solution \(\chi\) of the nonlinear operator equation \(F(x)=0\), where \(F\) is a five-times Fréchet-differentiable operator acting between Banach spaces \(X\) and \(Y\). An inverse free Newton-Jarratt-type method is studied. Local and semilocal convergence theorems for the method under consideration are proved and the order of convergence four is found out by using information only at a point via a gamma-type condition. These convergence results refine and weaken the ones obtained by \textit{I. K. Argyros, D. Chen} and \textit{Q. Qian}, J. Comput [Appl. Math. 51, 103--106 (1994; Zbl 0809.65054)] and by \textit{K. Argyros}, Funct. Approximatio, Comment. Math. 23, 97--108 (1994; Zbl 0837.65060)]. Two numerical examples are presented.
