Using the integral Fourier transform method, the author analyzes the dynamics of beams lying on an elastic half-space and subject to harmonic loads. A number of asymptotic expressions and approximations of the solutions are found. The Winkler approximation is discussed in detail, in order to give realistic foundation-rail systems for vehicle-track interaction modeling.
