Delay effects are very important in population dynamics modelling. In the presence of diffusion, one should take into account the fact that in the past individuals were usually occupying different positions and therefore, delay effects need to be combined with spatial diffusion. This observation has led to the formulation of nonlocal delay models whose corresponding reaction-diffusion terms contain integral terms characterised by kernels depending both on space and time. In this framework, the authors consider an integrodifferential reaction-diffusion system on a multidimensional spatial domain, subject to homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. They introduce a nonlocal version of a competition model. This system finds applications in population dynamics. The distributed delay effects are represented by memory kernels which decay exponentially but they are not necessarily monotonically decreasing. The construction of a dissipative dynamical system on a suitable phase-space is shown, then, the existence of the global attractor as well as of an exponential attractor are discussed.
