\(n \times n\) matrices in \(M_n(\mathbb C)\) which can be scaled by a diagonal matrix with complex entries are newly classified to be either Hermitian or normal. The classification includes all diagonal unitary matrices in \(M_n(\mathbb C)\), diagonal matrices \(D\) in \(M_n(\mathbb C)\) such that \(\rho(D) \leq 1\), \(n \times n\) positive diagonal matrices and invertible diagonal matrices in \(M_n(\mathbb C)\). Several equivalent definitions of a Hermitiable matrix are given. Finally, some types of stability properties including Schur-type stability of diagonally scaled matrices are analyzed.
