This interesting paper is a continuation of the work [J. Funct. Anal. 211, 245--269 (2004; Zbl 1072.47064)] begun by the authors, and is linked to more recent work [Pac. J. Math. 221, 379--397 (2005; Zbl 1095.43001)] of the second author. The notions of column and row operator space were extended by A. Lambert from Hilbert spaces to general Banach spaces in 2002. Most of the work in this paper is devoted to extending operator space theoretic results known to hold for the Fourier algebra and the Fourier-Stieltjes algebra of a locally compact group to its suitable generalization in a general \(L_p\) context. In particular, the authors show that for any \(p, 1 < p < \infty\), the Banach algebra \(B_p(G)\) introduced in [Runde (loc. cit.)] can be transformed into a completely bounded Banach algebra in a canonical way.
