    A result of homogenization is given for the family (in \(\varepsilon > 0\)) of equations \[ A_{\varepsilon} u := a_0(\varepsilon^{-1} x, u, Du) - \text{div}\, (\varepsilon^{-1} x, u, Du) = f \, \text{ in } \Omega , \quad u \in W^{1,p}_0(\Omega) \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded open set of \({\mathbb R}^n\). The function \(a\) satisfies some monotonicity and boundedness assumptions, the function \(a_0\) \[ \begin{aligned} | a_0(y, \mu, \lambda)| &\leqslant c_1 \, (1 + | \mu| ^{p-1} + | \lambda| ^{p-1}) \\ | a_0(y, \mu, \lambda) - a_0(y, \mu, \lambda')| &\leqslant c_2 \, (1 + | \mu| + | \lambda| + | \lambda'| )^{p-1-\alpha} | \lambda - \lambda'| ^{\alpha} \\ | a_0(y, \mu, \lambda) - a_0(y, \mu', \lambda')| &\leqslant c_3 \, (1 + | \mu| + | \mu'| + | \lambda| )^{p-1-\alpha} | \mu - \mu'| ^{\alpha} \end{aligned} \] for some positive constants \(c_1, c_2, c_3\) and \(0 < \alpha \leqslant \min \{1, p-1\}\) and \[ a_0(y, \mu, \lambda) \mu \geqslant 0 \] for almost every \(y \in \Omega\), for every \(\mu, \mu', \lambda, \lambda' \in {\mathbb R}^n\). By that the lack of monotonicity of the operators \(A_{\varepsilon}\). Not only the components of the function \(a\) may be periodic, but other situations are considered, for instance also almost periodic coefficients.
