For a smooth projective algebraic curve of genus \(g\) minus \(r\) points over an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p\), the structure of the largest prime to \(p\) quotient of the étale fundamental group is isomorphic to the largest prime to \(p\) quotient of a free profinite group on \(2g+r-1\) generators. The aim of this note is then to prove the theorem of structure for the largest prosolvable prime to p quotient of the fundamental group by using only algebraic means on the basis of the paper of \textit{J. P. Serre} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 311, No. 6, 341--346 (1990; Zbl 0726.14021)] and the formula of Grothendieck-Ogg-Shafarevich.
