A space \(X\) is called Whyburn iff for all \(A\) not closed, if \(x \in\) cl \(A \setminus A\) then there is a \(B \subset A\) with \(x\) as the only element of cl \(B \setminus A\). \(X\) is weakly Whyburn iff every not closed subset \(A\) has a subset \(B\) with exactly one element in cl \(B \setminus A\). Results include: Theorem: The following are equivalent: (a) \(X\) is scattered; (b) if a space \(Y\) has only one non-isolated point then \(X \times Y\) is hereditarily weakly Whyburn; (c) if a space \(Y\) is scattered, then \(X \times Y\) is hereditarily weakly Whyburn. Theorem: \(\mathfrak d = \inf\{w(X): X\) is countable, Hausdorff, not Whyburn\(\}\). Theorem: \(C_pC_p(X)\) is Whyburn iff \(X\) is finite.
