Let \(L\) be a closed Lagrangian submanifold of the compact symplectic manifold \(M\). In the case when \(L\) can be lifted to a Legendrian submanifold in the contactization of \(M\), to any Legendrian deformation of \(L\) satisfying some conditions, a new Lagrangian submanifold \(L'\) is associated. It is proved that the number of points of \(L \cap L'\) can be estimated from below by the sum of \(\mathbb Z_2\)--Betti numbers of \(L\), provided they intersect transversally. This result is a contact analogue of the Chekanov intersection theorem [\textit{Y. V. Chekanov}, Duke Math. J., 95, 213--226 (1998; Zbl 0977.53077)].
