Mapping radii of metric spaces (Q953104)

For a metric spaces \((X,d_X)\) and \((Y,d_Y)\), the author defines the mapping radius by \[ \sup_f\inf_{y\in Y}\sup_{x\in X} d_Y(f(x),y), \] where the first sup is over all nonexpansive maps \(f:X\to Y\). The paper is devoted to a systematic study of this notion. It contains also some related results on Arens--Eells spaces. Some open questions are noted.
