An effort is made to prove the fundamental continuous utility representation theorems in arbitrary concrete categories. In particular, generalizations of such theorems are presented that hold if the codomain of a utility function is an arbitrary totally ordered set and not just the real line. The abstract setting allows the authors to further clarify the underlying mathematical structure of the discussed theorems.
