Given non-commutative integration spaces \(({\mathcal H},{\mathcal U},\lambda)\) and \(({\mathcal H}_j,{\mathcal U}_j,\lambda_j)\), \(j= 1,\dots,N\), together with \(W^*\) algebra homomorphisms \(\phi_j:{\mathcal U}\to{\mathcal U}_j\), \(j= 1,\dots,N\), and indices \(1\leq p_j\leq\infty\), \(j= 1,\dots,N\), a non-commutative Brascamp--Lieb inequality holds for \(\{\phi_1,\dots, \phi_N\}\) and \(\{p_1,\dots, p_N\}\) if there is a finite constant \(C\) so that \[ \lambda\Biggl(\exp\Biggl[\sum^N_{j=1} \phi_j(H_j)\Biggr]\Biggr)\leq C\prod^N_{j=1} (\lambda_j\exp[p_j H_j])^{{1\over p_j}}, \] whenever \(H_j\) is self-adjoint in \({\mathcal U}_j\), \(j= 1,\dots,N\). The authors of the present paper are concerned with determining the indices and the best constant \(C\) for which such an inequality holds, and focus on two examples: the first concerns operators on tensor product of Hilbert spaces, and the second concerns Clifford algebras.
