Gauss-Lobatto to Bernstein polynomials transformation (Q955093)

In various applications, unknown functions only available on a finite grid of distinct points are frequently expressed by a linear combination of Bernstein polynomials. Since these polynomials are not orthogonal, they are not convenient to use in the least squares approximation. Then it is interesting to study transformations between orthogonal polynomial bases and Bernstein polynomial basis. In this paper explicit transformation matrices mapping a weighted sum of discrete orthogonal polynomials into Bernstein form and vice versa are derived and examined. Numerical tests show the efficiency of the algorithm.
