Given a von Neumann algebra \(M\) equipped with a faithful semifinite normal trace \(\tau\), we can consider the noncommutative \(L^p\)-spaces, \(L^p (M,\tau)\), associated to it [compare \textit{E. Nelson}, J. Funct. Anal. 15, 103--116 (1974; Zbl 0292.46030)]. Let \(\{\alpha_t\}\) be a strongly continuous extension to \(L^p (M,\tau)\) of a semigroup of absolute contractions on \(L^1 (M,\tau)\), where a linear map \(\alpha: L^1(M,\tau) \to L^1(M,\tau)\) is called an absolute contraction if, for each \(x \in M \cap L^1(M,\tau)\) such that \(0 \leq x \leq 1\), there is an \(\alpha(x)\) such that \[ 0\leq \alpha(x)\leq 1\quad \text{and}\quad \tau(\alpha(x)) \leq \tau(x). \] The main result of this paper establishes that for a Besicovitch function \(b\) and \(x\) in \(L^p (M,\tau)\), the averages \(\frac{1}{T}\int_0^{T} b(t) \alpha_t (x)\, dt\) converge bilaterally almost uniformly in \(L^p (M,\tau)\) as \(T\to \infty.\) The proof is based on a non-commutative Banach principle established by \textit{V. I. Chilin, S. Litvinov} and \textit{A. Skalski} [J. Oper. Theory 53, No.~2, 331--350 (2005; Zbl 1119.46314)]. A ``non-weighted'' version of this result (i.e., a local ergodic theorem) is reproved in \S 3. The Banach principle is again applied to provide alternative proofs to those established by \textit{E. Castrandas} [Algebras Groups Geom. 13, 71--80, (1996; Zbl 0866.46040)] and \textit{M. Junge} and \textit{Q. H. Xu} [J. Amer. Math. Soc. 20, No.~2, 385--439 (2007; Zbl 1116.46053)].
