Hecke operators on Drinfeld cusp forms (Q958701)

The authors carry out several computations related to the action of Hecke operators on spaces of Drinfeld cusp forms of level T and various weights. Let \(\Gamma={\mathrm {SL}}_2({\mathbb F}_q[T])\) be the Drinfeld modular group. Drinfeld modular forms for \(\Gamma\) have been studied by \textit{D. Goss} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 317, 16--39 (1980; Zbl 0422.10021)] and \textit{E.-U. Gekeler} [Invent. Math. 93, No. 3, 667--700 (1988; Zbl 0653.14012)]. In this paper, the authors consider Drinfeld cusp forms for the subgroups \(\Gamma(T)\) and \(\Gamma_1(T)\). They compute the eigenvalues and eigenspaces of Hecke operators at primes of degree \(1\) in \({\mathbb F}_q[T]\). In the case of \(\Gamma_1(T)\) they find that the action of these operators is simultaneously diagonisable in weight \(k\leq q\), but not in general for large weights. In the case of \(\Gamma(T)\) they find that the action need not be simultaneously diagonisable even for small weights.
