The authors study the global existence and stability of a transonic shock wave solution for the symmetrically perturbed steady supersonic gas past an infinitely long conic body. The flow hits the cone along the axis direction and is described by the steady, polytropic, and isentropic compressible Euler equations. The flow is considered to be a small perturbation of of the constant state. The global existence of the classical solution is proved.
