Positive definite Minkowski Lie algebras and bi-invariant Finsler metrics on Lie groups (Q960054)

A generalization of real quadratic Lie algebras, Minkowski Lie algebras, is introduced. They have previously been studied by the authors in the positive definite case [J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 37, No. 34, 8245--8253 (2004; Zbl 1062.58007)]. A condition is found that is equivalent to a real Lie algebra admitting a positive definite Minkowski Lie algebra structure. The simple positive definite ones are classified. Applications to Finsler geometry are obtained.
