The goal of this article is to derive an existence theorem for the following system: \[ \begin{cases} -\text{div} (\mu(\theta)|\nabla u|^{\sigma(\theta)-2}\nabla u) = g, \, u|_{\partial\Omega}=0, \\ -\Delta\theta = \mu(\theta)|\nabla u|^{\sigma(\theta)}, \;\theta|_{\partial\Omega}= 0, \end{cases} \tag{1} \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain of \(\mathbb{R}^d\) with a sufficiently smooth boundary, \(\mu(\theta)\) and \(\sigma(\theta)\) are measurable functions satisfying the conditions \(0<\mu_0\leqslant\mu(\theta)\leqslant\mu_0^{-1}\) and \(1<\alpha\leqslant\sigma(\theta)\leqslant\beta<\infty\). System (1) gives a joint desription of the electric field (\(u\) is the field potential) and the temperature \(\theta\). The author affirms that for system (1) a solution exists in each of the following cases: (i) \(d\geqslant 1\), \(\mu(\theta)\) is only measurable, \(\sigma(\theta)\equiv\text{const}\), and \(g\in L^{\alpha^\prime}(\Omega)\); (ii) \(d=2\), \(g\in L^{\alpha^\prime+\delta}(\Omega)\), \(\delta>0\), \(\mu(\theta)\) is only measurable and \(\sigma\) is Lipschitz continuous with a sufficiently small Lipschitz constant; (iii) \(d=3\), \(g\in W^{1,\alpha^\prime}(\Omega)\), both of the functions \(\mu\) and \(\sigma\) are Lipschitz continuous, and the Lipschitz constant for \(\sigma\) is sufficiently small. A proof sketch of the existence theorem in case (iii) is given.
