The authors study the generalized practical stability (GP-stability for short), the totally GP-stability and totally uniformly GP-stability of the piecewise smooth system \(\dot x= f(x,t)\) and the perturbed Filippov-type system \(\dot x= f(x,t)+ u(x,t)\), where \(f: \Omega\times I\to\mathbb{R}^n\) and \(u:\mathbb{R}^n\times I\to\mathbb{R}^n\) for a set \(\Omega\in\mathbb{R}^n\) \((n\geq 2)\), \(I= [t_0, t_0+ T)\) if \(T> 0\) or \(I= (t_0+ T,t_0)\) if \(T< 0\), here the number \(T\) may be finite or infinite. The function \(f(x,t)\) is piecewise smooth and \(u(x,t)\) represents the external inputs. The authors also apply these properties to a brake model of bikes to study its uniformly GP-stability and the totally GP-stability of its bifurcating periodic solutions, respectively. Finally, the authors presented some numerical computations to illustra these theories of this paper. For conveniece in this paper, the authors state and prove all results in the case \(T> 0\), and all results apply to the case \(T< 0\).
