    For a given positive measure \(\mu\) on the unit disk \(\mathbb{D}\), the authors investigate the sublinear operator \(A_{\mu}\) on the Hardy space \(\mathcal{H}^p\) given by the formula \[ (A_{\mu}f)(\zeta):= \int_{\Gamma(\zeta)} | f(z)| {d\mu\over 1-|z|}, \] where \(\Gamma(\zeta):= \{z\in \mathbb D:|\zeta- z|\leq 2(1-| z|)\}\). The aim of the article is to characterize those \(\mu\) for which \(A_{\mu}\) is bounded or compact from \(\mathcal{H}^p\) to \(L^q (\partial \mathbb{D})\). For example, for \(0 < p \leq q < \infty\), \(A_{\mu}\) is bounded from \(\mathcal{H}^p\) to \(L^q (\partial \mathbb{D})\) if and only if \(\mu\) is a \((1 + \frac1p - \frac1q)\)-Carleson measure. This generalizes a result from [\textit{W.\,S.\thinspace Cohn}, J.~Math.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 216, No.\,1, 112--121 (1997; Zbl 0903.46051)].
