Let \(C_1\) and \(C_2\) be two nested circles with radius \(R\) and \(r\) and let \(d\) be the distance of their centers. Assume that there is an \(n\)-sided polygon \(P\) inscribed in \(C_1\) and circumscribed around \(C_2\). This is called a Poncelet configuration. It imposes some algebraic relations between \(R\), \(r\), and \(d\). For \(n \leq 8\), these relations have been investigated by N. Fuss in 1798. In the paper under review, the author proves Fuss' relations for odd \(n \geq 3\) using a simple and elegant approach based on an appropriate partition of the integer \(n\). Moreover, using this technique, several not yet known relations are established as well.
