Global and local asymptotics for the busy period of an M/G/1 queue (Q967286)

The paper deals with an M/G/1 queue, providing a simple derivation of the global and local asymptotics for the busy period. Thus, the first goal of the paper is to provide new results on local asymptotics for the distribution of the length of the busy period \(\tau\). The second goal consists in giving a simple proof for the estimation of \(P\{\tau > t\}\) for some classes of service time distribution. Note that the assumptions on the distribution of the service time are close to minimal.
