This book presents a collection of challenging problems from an annual competition for college students organised by the Iranian Mathematical Society. The author has compiled problems from these competitions between 1973 to 2007 and provided solutions to most of them. Students of mathematics everywhere, whether preparing for competitions or for advanced studies, can sharpen their skills by solving the problems in this book. The volume contains a very readable collection of interesting problems of varying levels of difficulty. They give to those students sufficient background in areas of mathematics that are commonly the subject of olympiad questions at the senior level. The fields covered in this volume include higher algebra, analysis on the real axis, differential equations, geometry, and combinatorics. Detailed solutions are provided in the book. A problem book review would be incomplete without the reviewer's favorite problem in the collection. I have chosen problem 1.14.2, p.~23: Let \(g:{\mathbb R}\rightarrow {\mathbb R}\) be a continuous function with the property that \(g(x)>0\) for \(x\not=0\) and \(g(0)=0\). Let \(f:{\mathbb R}\rightarrow {\mathbb R}\) be a uniformly continuous and bounded function such that \(g\circ f\) is integrable on \({\mathbb R}\). Prove that \(\lim_{x\rightarrow\infty}f(x)=0\). The book under review is a collection of interesting and fresh problems with detailed solutions. The target audience seems to be students preparing for mathematical olympiads and other competitions, but undergraduate students and mathematics teachers may also find interesting things here.
