Let \(\Omega\) be a connected compact Haussdorff space and let \(X\) be Banach space such that any surjective isometry \(L\) on \(C(\Omega,X)\) is necessarily of the form \(L(f)(w)=u_w(f\circ \varphi(w))\), where \(\varphi\) is a homeomorphism on \(\Omega\) and \(u:\Omega\to \text{Isom}(X)\) is continuous (this happens, for instance, if \(X\) has the strong Banach-Stone property). The authors show that \(Q\) is a generalized bi-circular projection on \(C(\Omega, X)\), i.e., \(Q^2=Q\) and \(Q+\lambda(I-Q)\) is an isometry on \(C(\Omega,X)\) for some \(\lambda\neq 1\) with \(|\lambda|=1\), if and only if either \[ Q(f)(w)= \tfrac{1}{2}(f(w)+u_w(f\circ \varphi(w)) \] for some nontrivial homeomorphism with \(\varphi^2=\text{Id}\) and continuous \(u:\Omega\to \text{Isom}(X)\) with \(u_w\circ u_\varphi(w)=\text{Id}\) or \(Q(f)(w)= P_w(f(w))\) for any \(w\in \Omega\), where \(P_w\) are generalized bi-circular projections on \(X\).
