The paper is devoted to the definition of a Gâteaux-like derivative for octonion valued functions. Following ideas of G. C. Cullen, octonion analysis including polynomials with octonion coefficients is carefully developed. A Cauchy integral formula and its consequences (Taylor-like expansions, modulus-maximum principle) are obtained. The paper contains some information on the zeros of power series of such type of octonion polynomials.
