Given a convex body \(K\) containing the origin \(o\) of a finite dimensional real vector space, the authors study the volume entropy \(\overline{\mathrm{Ent}} K=\overline{\lim}_{r\to\infty}\frac{\log \mathrm{Vol}\, B(o,r)}{r}\) of \(K\) endowed with the Hilbert geometry metric \(d(x,y)=\frac12|\log[a,b,x,y]|\) where \(a,b\) are the points of the intersection of the line \(xy\) with \(\partial K\) and \([a,b,x,y]=\frac{|a-x|}{|b-x|}:\frac{|a-y|}{|b-y|}\) stands for the cross-ratio. The First Main Theorem proved in the paper says that for a two-dimensional convex body \(K\) we get the upper bound \(\overline{\mathrm{Ent}}K\leq\frac2{3-d}\leq 1\) where \(d\) is the upper Minkowski (or else packing) dimension of the set of extremal points of \(K\). The authors also construct a two-dimensional convex body \(K\) with \(\overline{\mathrm{Ent}}K\in[\frac14,\frac34]\). The Second Main Theorem for a convex body \(K\) with sufficiently smooth boundary gives a precise value of the limit \(\lim_{r\to\infty}\frac{\mathrm{Vol}\,B(o,r)}{\sinh^{n-1}r}=\frac1{n-1}\mathcal A_p(K)\), where \(\mathcal A_p(K)\) is the so-called centroprojective area of \(K\).
