This paper is a part two of the author's work on supercuspidal representations of \(\text{GL}_{2n}(F)\), where \(F\) is a \(p\)-adic field of characteristic zero. They consider relations among the local Langlands transfer, local theta correspondence and the local descent attached to a given irreducible symplectic supercuspidal representation of \(p\)-adic \(\text{GL}_{2n}\). Because of their deep connection with Galois representations, symplectic supercuspidal representations have recently received much attention. The symplectic irreducible unitary supercuspidal representations of \(\text{GL}_{2n}(F)\) were characterized in few places and discussed in detail by authors in [Manuscr. Math. 127, No. 2, 187--217 (2008; Zbl 1167.11021)]. In that paper the authors introduced a family of unipotent subgroups \(N_{k}\) of \(\text{SO}_{4n}(F)\), for \(k = 1, 2, \dots, 2n\), and proved that if \(\pi\) is an irreducible admissible representation of \(\text{SO}_{4n}(F)\) that has a nonzero generalized Shalika model, then the \(\psi_{k}\)-twisted Jacquet modules of \(\pi\) with respect to \(N_{k}\) are all zero for \(n \leq k \leq 2n\) (\(\psi_{k}\) is here a character of \(N_{k}\)). For an irreducible unitary supercuspidal representation \(\tau\) of \(\text{GL}_{2n}(F)\) with a nonzero Shalika model, they apply the family of the \(\psi_{k}\)-twisted Jacquet functors to the Langlands quotient of the unitarily induced representation \(I(1, \tau)\) of \(\text{SO}_{4n}(F)\). The first interesting representation is obtained for \(k = n-1\) and it is an admissible representation of \(\text{SO}_{2n+1}(F)\). This representation is denoted by \(\sigma_{n-1} = \sigma_{n-1}(\tau)\) and called the local descent of \(\tau\) from \(\text{GL}_{2n}(F)\) to \(\text{SO}_{2n+1}(F)\). The main result of the paper under review states that the local descent \(\sigma_{n-1}\) is irreducible, generic and a supercuspidal representation of \(\text{SO}_{2n+1}(F)\).
