The generalized Drazin inverse of a bounded linear operator was introduced by \textit{J. J. Koliha} [Glasg. Math. J. 38, No.~3, 367--381 (1996; Zbl 0897.47002)]. The paper under review gives formulae for the generalized Drazin inverse \(M^d\) of an operator \(M\) given in a \(2\times 2\) anti-triangular block form (i.e, the lower right block is zero) in two different ways. It is assumed that \(A\) is (resp.\ \(B\) and \(C\) are) generalized Drazin invertible, and some additional conditions are satisfied. Then \(M^d\) is expressed in terms of \(A^d\), \(B\) and \(C\) (resp.\ \(A\), \(B^d\) and \(C^d\)). The general formulae are rather complicated, but various special cases are analyzed in which they become simpler.
