      Let \(C_1\), \(C_2\) be two simple curves joining \(0\) and \(\infty\), which have no common points in \({\mathbb C}\setminus \{0\}\) and which enclose a domain \(D\). Denote by \(\tilde D\) the complement of \(D\). Let \(\Phi(|z|)\) be a convex, nondecreasing function of \( |z|\). Assume, for all sufficiently large \(r\), the set \(E_{r} = \{\theta: z = r e^{i \theta}\in D\}\) has measure at most \(2\alpha\) (\(0 < \alpha < \pi\)). Then the following is proved. Theorem. Suppose \(u\) is a subharmonic in \({\mathbb C}\), and \(u(z) = \Phi(|z|)\) for all sufficiently large \(z\in C_1\cup C_2 \cup \tilde D\). If \[ \inf_{z\in\tilde D\,,\, |z|= r} u(z)=O(1), \] then \[ \liminf_{r\rightarrow \infty} \frac{\sup_{|z| = r} u(z)}{r^{\pi/2\alpha}} > 0. \] This theorem is related to the main theorem of the authors in [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 41, No. 1, 27--35 (2009; Zbl 1167.31002)], but the proof is different. [For part II, cf. J. Anal. Math. 110, 385--395 (2010; Zbl 1203.31001)].
