This is a study on the large time behavior of solutions to an initial-boundary value problem for the generalized BBM-Burgers equation in the half space. Actually it is a continuation -- in some sense -- of the work done in a previous paper [\textit{H. Yin, H. J. Zhao} and \textit{J. S. Kim}, J. Differ. Equations 245, No.~11, 3144--3216 (2008; Zbl 1172.35067)]. The nonlinearity of the equation is described by a smooth function \(f(u)\). For the non-degenerate case and without assuming strictly convexity of \(f(u)\), a result regarding the global stability of weak boundary layer solutions to the stated IBV-problem is proved. Further, one concentrates on obtaining algebraic as well as exponential decay rates of the global solution \(u(t ,x)\) of the considered IBV-problem. In case \(f(u)\) is convex and under some specific assumptions, the nonlinear stability of strong boundary layer solution and the corresponding decay rates -- algebraic and exponential -- are proved.
