The author gives an interesting insight into a specific problem of discrete geometry for a wide circle of readers. The inspiration for these studies goes back to a discovery by Michael Peres, that there are ``non-rational'' polytopes. They are a combinatorial types of convex polytopes, whose vertices cannot be realized with rational coordinates. The author introduces to the concept of non-rational point configurations, non-rational polytopes and non-rational surfaces. He presents some comprehensible examples, results (theorems) and proofs. In this way he gives a more detailed insight into bearing means and methods. Stimulating, four presented problems and views are generalizations. Numerous references round out the note.
