Local well posedness of the Cauchy problem for the Landau-Lifshitz equations. (Q976602)

The so-called Landau-Lifshitz equation \(\partial _t u=u\times \Delta u-\lambda u\times (u\times \Delta u)\), \(u\:\mathbb R^d\to \mathbb S^2\) (2-dimensional sphere), \(\lambda >0\), is considered. The well-posedness of the initial-value problem (\(x\in \Omega \subseteq \mathbb R^d\), \(d\geq 1\)) is studied thoroughly. The main obstacle is the supernonlinearity of the problem.
