      Summary: Let \({\mathcal C}{\mathcal R}{\mathcal F}_S\) denote the category of \(S\)-colored rooted forests, and \(H_{{\mathcal C}{\mathcal R}{\mathcal F}_S}\) denote its Ringel-Hall algebra as introduced in [\textit{K. Kremnizer} and \textit{M. Szczesny}, Commun. Math. Phys. 289, No. 2, 561--577 (2009; Zbl 1173.81008)]. We construct a homomorphism from a \(K^+_0({\mathcal C}{\mathcal R}{\mathcal F}_s)\)-graded version of the Hopf algebra of noncommutative symmetric functions to \(H_{{\mathcal C}{\mathcal R}{\mathcal F}_S}\). Dualizing, we obtain a homomorphism from the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra to a \(K^+_0({\mathcal C}{\mathcal R}{\mathcal F}_S)\)-graded version of the algebra of quasisymmetric functions. This homomorphism is a refinement of one considered by \textit{W. Zhao} in [J. Algebr. Comb. 28, No. 2, 235--260 (2008; Zbl 1152.05057)].
