The authors prove the existence of a very weak solution \(u\), in a suitable Lorentz space, of a semilinear elliptic equation. This result is used to prove the existence of the so called large solutions with large right hand side data in \(L(\Omega,\delta), \) where \(\Omega \) is a bounded open set in \(\mathbb R^N\) and \(\delta(x)= \text{dist} (x,\partial\Omega)\). Then, the authors prove some rearrangement comparison results.
