The authors show the monotone convergence of the semismooth Newton method, and develop semismooth Newton additive and multiplicative Schwarz iterative methods for solving a system of nonsmooth equations which arises from a reformulation of the linear complementarity problem. To speed up the convergence rate, a modified semismooth Newton additive Schwarz iterative method is proposed and its monotone convergence property is verified.
