A complex polynomial \(f:\mathbb{C}^{2}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}\) gives rise to a rational map from the projective plane to the projective line (by compactifying \(\mathbb{C}^{2}\) and \(\mathbb{C}\) to the projective spaces). Removing its points of indeterminacy (by blowing up) at points on the line at infinity we get a complex surface on which the map becomes well defined. The complement of the complex plane inside this complex surface decomposes into a finite number of projective lines. Those of them on which the map is not constant are called dicritical divisors. They are important because studying dicritical divisors of components of a jacobian pairs is crucial for solving the famous jacobian conjecture. The author describes (giving detailed various motivations) the process of algebraization of the above toplogical and geometrical notion of the dicritical divisors to the category of the general two dimensional local rings. Considerations refers to the future articles by the author in cooperation with Heinzer and Luengo.
