A local existence theorem for smooth solutions for 3D Navier-Stokes equations defined in a bounded domain with smooth boundary is proved, when the initial data belongs to a certain unbounded ellipsoid in a suitable function space. Moreover, the unboundedness of stable invariant manifolds for 3D Navier-Stokes equations is shown.
