The paper deals with the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem associated to a first-order scalar conservation law with stochastic forcing, \[ du + \text{div}(A(u(t))dt = \Phi(u)dW(t),\;\;\; x\in {\mathbb T}^n,\,\,t\in (0,\,T). \] Here, \({\mathbb T}^n\) is the \(N\)-dimensional torus, \(A\in C^2({\mathbb R},\,{\mathbb R}^N)\) with at most polynomial growth derivatives and \(W(t)\) is a cylindrical Wiener process. The solution to this equation is characterized by using a kinetic formulation to the problem and it is found to be a limit of the solution to the stochastic parabolic approximation.
