Toroidal Lie algebras are natural generalization of the affine Kac-Moody algebras and enjoy many similar interesting features. The authors use fermionic operators to construct classical types of these algebras, including in particular symplectic affine algebras, that are first realized by fermions. Indeed, the authors define these algebras and state Moody-Eswara Rao-Yokonuma representation of them in terms of generators and relations [\textit{R. V. Moody, S. Eswara Rao} and \textit{T. Yokonuma} [Geom. Dedicata 35, 283--307 (1990; Zbl 0704.17011)], giving representations of some classical types of them by doing an extensive analysis of the operator product expansions for the field operator. They also include verification of the Serre relations.
