Zentralblatt column (Q988043)

The author describes the concept of the \textit{Excerpts}, the new printed version of Zentralblatt MATH, together with the developments in mathematical publication leading to the necessity to abandon printed information on \textit{all} math-related publications. The \textit{Excerpts from Zentralblatt MATH} will contain all book reviews (about 2000/year) together with a cross-section of interesting articles through the whole field of mathematics. A further special feature are the new \textit{Looking back} reviews, which reflect the newly introduced possibility of adding relevant information available only later to the database (in the form of ``Looking Back''-reviews, second reviews, or comments).
