It is well known that there are no real hypersurfaces \(M\) in \(M_n(c)\) with parallel Ricci tensor \(S\). If \(S\) is \(\eta\)-parallel and of constant mean curvature, a classification of Hopf hypersurfaces was obtained by \textit{C. Baikoussis, S. M. Lyu} and \textit{Y. J. Suh} [Math. J. Toyama Univ. 23, 41--61 (2000; Zbl 1032.53046)]. In this paper, the authors study the same problem without the constancy assumption on the mean curvature.
