The authors study B-branes for the one-parameter Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in weighted \(\mathbb{P}^4\). They focus in particular on their normal function and derive its associated Picard-Fuchs system. Their starting point is a discussion of tensor product branes and their moduli using the the language of matrix factorizations. They find that for the degree \(d=6\) hypersurfaces none of the tensor product branes has moduli. For the \(d=8\) and the \(d=10\) hypersurfaces they then pick a certain D-brane and derive the inhomogeneous Picard-Fuchs equations. This yields a prediction for the real BPS invariants for holomorphic maps of worldsheets with low Euler characteristics, ending on the mirror A-branes.
