Recently, \textit{G. Androulakis, A. I. Popov, A. Tcaciuc} and \textit{V. G. Troitsky} [Integral Equations Oper. Theory 65, 473--484 (2009; Zbl 1206.47008)] have defined the following notion. If \(T\) is a bounded linear operator on a Banach space \(X\), then a norm-closed subspace \(Y\subset X\) is called almost invariant under \(T\) if there exists subspace \(F\subset X\), \(\dim F<\infty\), such that \(TY\subset Y+F\). In the paper under review, almost invariant subspaces of an algebra \(\mathfrak A\) of operators are studied. It is proved that, if \(\mathfrak A\) is norm-closed and \(Y\) is almost invariant under all \(T\in \mathfrak A\), then the dimensions of the corresponding ``defect'' subspaces \(F\) are uniformly bounded. Moreover, it is proved that, if \(\mathfrak A\) is generated by a finite number of commuting operators and \(\mathfrak A\) has an almost invariant subspace with infinite dimension and infinite codimension, then \(\mathfrak A\) has an invariant subspace.
