Let \(\mathcal{J}\) be a vector valued trigonometric system, \(W\) be a matrix weight (i.e., a function \(W:\mathbb{T}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}^{N\times N}\) taking values in the set of strictly positive definite Hermitian forms) with \(W\) and \(W^{-1}\) being integrable, \(1<p<\infty\), and let \(L_{p}(\mathbb{T};W)\) be the weighted space associated with \(W\). The weight \(W\) is said to belong to the Muckenhoupt class \(A_p\) if \(W\) and \(W^{-p'/p}\) are integrable and \[ \sup_{I} \int_I \Big(\int_I \|W^{1/p}(x)W^{-1/p}(t)\|^{p'}\frac{dt}{|I|}\Big)^{p/p'}\frac{dx}{|I|}<\infty, \] where the supremum is taken over all open intervals. In the paper, the following results are proved: The system \(\mathcal{J}\) is a Schauder basis for \(L_{p}(\mathbb{T};W)\) if and only if \(W\in A_p\). If the system \(\mathcal{J}\) is a quasi-greedy basis for \(L_{p}(\mathbb{T};W)\), then \(p=2\). If the system \(\mathcal{J}\) is a quasi-greedy basis for \(L_{2}(\mathbb{T};W)\), then \(I\) is also a Riesz basis for \(L_{2}(\mathbb{T};W)\).
