The homology of Lie algebras over a field of characteristic zero is an important gadget of algebra and topology. It is well understood and a lot of computations have been performed. However, the situation is dramatically different when working over a finite field, where homology of Lie algebras is expected to have relationships with algebraic \(K\)-theory. In fact, it is a priori unclear what is the meaning of such a homology theory. Homotopy of operads gives a satisfactory answer to this problem: homology of Lie algebras should be defined as Quillen homology of algebras over a cofibrant replacement of the Lie operad. Such a definition has very good homotopical properties but is very hard to deal with. Inspired by Robison's work on homology of commutative algebras up to homotopy, the author defines a very nice model for Quillen homology of algebras over a Koszul operad (in particular over the Lie operad) namely the Gamma-homology. This model is defined via a reasonably small chain complex. In the case of commutative algebras one recovers the Robinson's complex. Such a model has been used by the author to develop in another paper obstruction theory for algebras over an operad. The paper is very well written and should be of interest for everyone interested in homology of algebras.
