The existence of multiple positive solutions for singular integral equations of the form \[ x(t)= \int^1_0 G(t,s) f(s, x(s)+ \gamma(s))\,ds\quad (t\in [0,1]) \] is established with help of a nonlinear Leray-Schauder alternative and a fixed point theorem in a cone. An application to higher-order nonlinear singular conjugate boundary value problems is provided.
