A contraction \(A\) on Hilbert space is said to be in the \(C_0\)-class if \((A^*)^n\) converges to \(0\) in the strong operator topology. In this paper, the author introduces the functional spectrum for \(C_0\)-class contractions. He gives some properties of the functional spectrum. In particular, the author shows that the functional spectrum is a closed subset of the Hardy space \(H^2(\mathbb{D})\). Also, he obtains that the structure of the functional spectrum will reflect the operator more faithfully from some examples, and a \(C_0\)-class contraction is represented as an operator on the Hardy space \(H^2(\mathbb{D}^2)\).
