Rapidly oscillatory integrals often arise in practical problems in physics, chemistry and engineering. In this paper the author considers integrals of highly oscillatory Bessel functions \(S(rx)\) of the first kind and of order \(m\), where \(m\) and \(r\) are arbitrary positive real numbers. For large \(r\) the integrand becomes highly oscillatory and it presents serious difficulties in obtaining numerical convergence of the integration. In particular the paper shows a new numerical analysis for the composite collocation method proposed by \textit{D. Levin} in [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 67, No. 1, 95--101 (1996; Zbl 0858.65017)] and it gives a more accurate error analysis and a new error bound for the integration of systems containing Bessel functions. Some numerical test examples are also given.
