The paper establishes a central limit theorem for the number of vertices of convex polytopes induced by stationary Poisson hyperplane processes in \(\mathbb R^d.\) The result generalizes an earlier one in \textit{K. Paroux} [Adv. Appl. Probab. 30, No. 3, 640--656 (1998; Zbl 0914.60013)] for intersection points of motion-invariant Poisson line processes in \(\mathbb R^2.\) The proof utilises \(U\)-statistic theory as the number of vertices can be expressed in terms of a \(U\)-statistic based on a Poisson distributed number of observations. This idea is extended in several directions to obtain central limit theorems for the number of \(k\)-flats and the volume induced by intersections of \(d\) hyperplanes of stationary Poisson hyperplane processes in \(\mathbb R^d\). Further (asymptotic) confidence intervals are derived for the intensities of the \(k\)-flat processes.
